Volunteer Positions for the Day of the Event — QYLA 2024
Please help us make this year’s QYLA run smoothly.
We are looking for volunteers to help with a few aspects of the event and if you have an hour or two to spare during the day of the event on Saturday May 11, 2024 indoors at Scotts Valley High School in Scotts Valley, please contact Joe Cosentino, 2024 QYLA Volunteer Coordinator, at steph2015!@#qyla@QYLA.org or (831) 427-4004.

If you need credit for Community Service Hours, please share your address and any other details needed. We will mail out letters shortly after the event.
Volunteer opportunities on May 11 include:
9:00 am-9:00 pm (3-hour shifts)–Volunteer Host/Greeter: 4 volunteers— Filled- Check in volunteers upon arrival and direct them to their tasks.
10:00 am-12:00 noon–Morning Setup: 10 volunteers— Filled- Set up tables, chairs, linens, buffet tables area, etc.
- Please tell us in the Volunteer Form below whether you are comfortable moving large tables.
10:30 am-1:30 pm–Decorations: 9 volunteers— Filled- Decorate entrance, Resource Fair, and the courtyard.
- Set and decorate tables.
- Post signage directing attendees to parking and venue.
11:00 am-5:00 pm (2-hour shifts)–Miscellaneous Support: 6-9 volunteers— Filled- Help complete unfinished tasks or fill unanticipated needs.
- Possibly serve as a runner to pick up supplies, etc.
3:00-5:00 pm–Dessert Reception Setup: 3 volunteers— Filled- Prepare and set up fruit, cake, cookies, coffee, and tea.
4:00-6:00 pm–Afternoon Catering Setup Crew: 10 volunteers— Filled- Receive dinner shipment from caterer, set up buffet tables.
- Fill pitchers and water glasses.
4:00-7:15 pm–Will Call/Ticket Sales: 10 volunteers— Filled- 4:15-7:15 pm (one-hour shifts)–Parking Assistants: 8 volunteers
- Direct attendees to designated parking areas.
- 5:30-6:45 pm – Student Dinner Hosts: 8 volunteers
- Direct dinner guests from tables to food stations.
5:30-7:30 pm–Evening Catering Dinner Crew: 30 volunteers— Filled- Help serve dinner–helps during the dinner to make sure everything runs smooth.
6:00-7:00 pm–Dessert Reception Crew: 2 volunteers— Filled- Serve desserts and hot beverages.
- 6:00-7:00 pm–Dinnertime Cleanup Crew: 4-5 volunteers
- Help clean up during dinner.
- 7:00-8:30 pm–Evening Catering Cleanup Crew: 3-4 volunteers
- Help clean up after dinner with rinsing and sorting of dinner plates and utensils.
- 8:15-9:30 pm–Parking Assistants: 8 volunteers
- Show attendees the way back to the designated parking areas.
- 8:30-10:30 pm–Post Event Cleanup Crew: 30 volunteers
- Put away tables and chairs and return venue to clean condition. Take down posters, decorations, signage, etc.
- Please tell us in the Volunteer Form below whether you are comfortable moving large tables.

Help Plan the 2024 Queer Youth Leadership Awards
QYLA 2024 Community Planning Meetings: Be part of a dedicated group of community members planning the 27th Annual Queer Youth Leadership Awards. All are welcome!
QYLA is always looking for dynamic volunteers to help organize the annual event. There are many different opportunities for people with all types of commitment levels. Only have time to help on the day of the event? Want to help but only have every other weekend? Want to be part of the planning committee? Great! Let us know how you can help and we will gladly work with you.
There are many ways you can get involved:
