Volunteer Positions for the Day of the Event — QYLA 2020
Please help us make this year’s event run smoothly. We are looking for volunteers to help with a few aspects of the event and if you have an hour or two to spare during the day of the event on Saturday May 9, 2020 at New Brighton Middle School in Capitola, please contact Joe Cosentino, 2020 QYLA Volunteer Coordinator, at email or (831) 427-4004.

If you need credit for Community Service Hours, please share your address and any other details needed. We will mail out letters shortly after the event.
Volunteer opportunities on May 9th include:
- 9:00 am-9:00 pm (3-hour shifts)–Volunteer Host/Greeter: 4 volunteers
Greets and checks in all volunteers.
- 10:00 am-12:00 noon–Morning Setup: 10 volunteers
Set up tables, chairs, linens, buffet tables area, etc. Please tell us in the Volunteer Form below whether you are comfortable moving large tables.
- 10:30 am-1:30 pm–Decorations: 9 volunteers
Decorate the entrance, Resource Fair and courtyard. Post signage directing attendees to parking and venue.
- 1:00-2:30 pm–Miscellaneous Support: 2-3 volunteers
- 3:00-5:00 pm–Dessert Reception Setup: 3 volunteers
Help decorate and set up the dessert buffet with fruit and cakes.
- 4:00-6:00 pm–Afternoon Catering Setup Crew: 10 volunteers
Help set up for dinner and prepare food for the buffet–helps make the prep smooth.
- 4:15-7:15 pm (one-hour shifts)–Parking Assistants: 8 volunteers
Direct attendees to designated parking area.
- 5:30-7:30 pm–Evening Catering Dinner Crew: 12 volunteers
Help serve dinner–helps during the dinner to make sure everything runs smooth.
- 6:00-7:00 pm–Dessert Reception Crew: 2 volunteers
Help serve dessert & cakes.
- 6:00-7:00 pm–Cleanup Crew: 4-5 volunteers
Help clean up during dinner.
- 7:00-8:30 pm–Evening Catering Cleanup Crew: 3-4 volunteers
Help clean up–helps after dinner with rinsing and sorting of the dinner plates and utensils.
- 8:30-10:30 pm–Post Event Cleanup Crew: 10 volunteers
Put away tables and chairs for dancing and clean the hall after the dance. Take down posters, decorations, signage, etc. Please tell us in the Volunteer Form below whether you are comfortable moving large tables.

QYLA 2020 Community Planning Meeting’s: Be part of a dedicated group of community members planning the 23rd Annual Queer Youth Leadership Awards. All welcome!
The QYLA is always looking for dynamic volunteers to help organize the annual QYLA. There are many different opportunities for people with all types of commitment levels. Only have time to help on the day of the event? Want to help but only have every other weekend? Want to be part of the planning committee? Great!
